About this tool
Turn any video into an MP3 in a few clicks. Pick an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file (or paste a link to a video), choose the audio quality, optionally keep only the part you want, and download a standard MP3 that plays on phones, cars, speakers and every music app.
The conversion happens inside your browser tab, using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your video is not uploaded to Love Video or anyone else, which also means there is no queue, no file-size paywall and no waiting for a server.
How to use it
- Choose your videoDrop a video file onto the page or tap it to browse. You can also switch to Link and paste the address of a video; Love Video fetches it for you.
- Pick the MP3 qualitySelect 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps, or VBR for variable bitrate. 192 kbps is a good default for music and speech.
- Trim if you likeOptionally enter a start and end time to keep only that part of the audio.
- Convert and downloadPress Convert. When it finishes, play the preview and tap Download MP3.
Which MP3 quality should you choose?
MP3 is a lossy format, so the bitrate is a trade-off between file size and fidelity. As a rough guide:
- 128 kbps: small files, fine for podcasts, lectures and voice. About 1 MB per minute.
- 192 kbps: a sensible default for music on phones and earbuds. About 1.4 MB per minute.
- 256 kbps: very close to the source for most listeners. About 1.9 MB per minute.
- 320 kbps: the highest MP3 setting and the biggest files, with little audible benefit over 256 kbps for most people. About 2.4 MB per minute.
- VBR: variable bitrate lets the encoder spend more bits on complex passages and fewer on quiet ones. This tool uses LAME quality level V2, which averages roughly 190 kbps.
Re-encoding cannot add quality that the video’s original sound did not have. If the audio inside the video is 128 kbps AAC, choosing 320 kbps only makes the file bigger.
Convert from a link instead of a file
Switch to the Link tab and paste the address of a video on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit, Vimeo or a direct file link. Love Video’s server scans the link the same way the main downloader does, so that scan is logged like any other scan, and the media passes through our server on its way to your browser.
If a ready-made 192 kbps MP3 is offered it is the fastest route: it is simply downloaded, and the conversion engine is not needed. If you want another bitrate or a trimmed clip, choose the in-browser conversion option instead, which uses the best audio-only stream of the link (or the smallest video if there is none). Only convert content you own or have permission to use.

Limits and tips
- Video files up to about 1 GB work on most desktop computers. On phones and tablets the practical limit is closer to 300 MB, because browsers give a web page less memory there.
- Audio extraction is much lighter than video work, but a long recording still takes a while on a phone. Keep the tab open and the screen awake; closing the tab cancels the conversion.
- The first conversion downloads the engine (about 10 MB compressed). After that it comes from your browser’s cache.
- A video with no audio track cannot be converted, and the tool tells you when that is the case.
- Tags and cover art from the video are not copied into the MP3.
- Check that you have the right to convert and use the content before you share the result.
Privacy
Your file stays on your device. The video is read by your browser, converted by code running in your browser, and the MP3 is created in memory and saved by you. After each run Love Video receives one tiny anonymous counter (which tool, whether it worked, how long it took, a size range) with no file name or link, and nothing that identifies you is stored with it. Only when you paste a link does our server get involved, as it does for the downloader. See the Terms of Use.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the MP4 to MP3 converter really free?
- Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit and no file-size paywall. The only limits come from your device’s memory and speed.
- Is my video uploaded anywhere?
- Not when you choose a file from your device. It is converted inside your browser and never leaves it. Only if you paste a link does our server fetch the media for you.
- Why does the first conversion take longer?
- The first time, your browser downloads the conversion engine: about 10 MB compressed, 32 MB unpacked. It is cached afterwards, so later conversions start almost immediately.
- Can I convert only part of a video?
- Yes. Enter a start and end time, for example 1:30 and 2:45, before converting, and only that section becomes the MP3.
- What is the difference between 128, 192 and 320 kbps?
- A higher bitrate keeps more detail and makes a bigger file. 128 kbps suits speech, 192 kbps suits most music, and 320 kbps is the maximum for MP3. Audio that was already low quality does not improve at a higher setting.
- Does it work on iPhone and Android?
- Yes, in current Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Phones have less memory and are slower, so keep files under about 300 MB and keep the screen on while it works.
- Can I get the MP3 of a YouTube video?
- Paste the video link in the Link tab. Use this only for videos you own or have permission to download. The YouTube downloader offers other formats too.
