About this tool

Join several songs, voice memos or podcast parts into one MP3. Add up to twenty files from your device or paste links, put them in order by dragging (or with the up and down buttons), choose what happens between the tracks, and press Merge audio. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no sign-up or watermark.

The tool accepts MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, OGG, FLAC and more, and it also takes video files, using their sound. If all your files are MP3s with the same format, they are joined instantly without re-encoding and without any quality loss. Otherwise the tracks are converted to one MP3 at the bitrate you choose.

How to use it

  1. Add your tracksDrop audio files onto the page or tap to browse, or switch to Link and add addresses one at a time. Up to 20 tracks.
  2. Put them in orderDrag a track up or down the list, or use the arrow buttons next to it. Remove any track you do not need.
  3. Choose the transitionJoin the tracks directly, add a silent gap of up to 5 seconds, or crossfade them for up to 10 seconds. Optionally even out the loudness and pick the MP3 quality.
  4. Merge and savePress Merge audio, listen to the result and download the MP3, or open it in another tool.

Joining without re-encoding

MP3 is a stream of small frames, so MP3 files that use the same sample rate and channel layout can be joined by simply placing their frames one after another. When that applies and you ask for no gap, no crossfade and no loudness change, the tool does exactly that: the merge takes a moment and the sound is bit for bit the same as in the originals. The tool shows which method it will use, and why, before you press the button.

Gaps, crossfades and loudness

A silent gap puts a pause between tracks, from half a second to five seconds, which suits a playlist of separate songs or voice memos. A crossfade does the opposite: the end of one track fades out while the start of the next fades in, for up to ten seconds, which suits mixes and continuous music. A crossfade can never be longer than half of your shortest track, and the tool tells you if it had to shorten it.

Tracks from different sources are often recorded at different volumes. Even out the loudness brings every track to the same perceived level (using the EBU R128 loudness standard) before the tracks are joined, so you do not have to reach for the volume knob between songs. It re-encodes the audio and adds some processing time, so leave it off when you do not need it.

Mixing formats

You can mix formats freely: an MP3, an M4A from a phone and a WAV recording can go into the same merge. The tool converts everything to a common sample rate and to stereo (or mono when every file is mono) and encodes one MP3 with the LAME encoder at 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps. Choose a higher bitrate if the tracks are music and you plan to keep the result. After merging you can open the file in the MP3 cutter to trim it or in MP3 to MP4 to make a video with a cover image for sites that only accept video.

Limits and tips

Privacy

Your audio stays on your device. It is read, joined and saved by your browser. After each run Love Video receives one tiny anonymous counter (which tool, whether it worked, how long it took, a size range for all files together) with no file name or link attached. A pasted link is the only thing sent to our server, as it is for the downloader. See the Terms of Use.

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge MP3 files online for free?
Add your files, put them in order by dragging or with the arrow buttons, and press Merge audio. The joining happens in your browser and you download one MP3. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
Does merging MP3 files reduce the quality?
Not when all files are MP3s with the same format and you choose no gap, crossfade or loudness change: they are joined without re-encoding. In every other case the result is encoded once to MP3 at the bitrate you choose.
Can I crossfade between songs?
Yes. Choose Crossfade and set up to 10 seconds. The end of each track fades into the start of the next. The crossfade is automatically kept shorter than half of your shortest track.
Can I merge different formats such as MP3, M4A and WAV?
Yes. The tool converts everything to a common format and creates one MP3. The fast no-re-encoding join is available only when every file is an MP3 with the same sample rate and channels.
How many files can I merge?
Up to 20 files, with a total size of about 500 MB on a computer and about 200 MB on a phone. These limits protect your browser from running out of memory.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. Files you choose are processed in your browser and never leave your device. Only a pasted link is scanned by our server, as the downloader does.
What does even out loudness do?
It adjusts every track to the same perceived loudness before joining, so a quiet recording does not sit next to a loud one. It takes longer because the audio has to be analysed and encoded.
